At the end of 2022, a new pilot scheme backed by the government was launched to remove dangerous cladding from medium-rise buildings, where no developer can be found to pay for remediations.

As part of this pilot, Homes England have invited a select number of industry experts to join a panel of assessors to carry out FRAEW assessments on these buildings.

FRC are honoured to have been invited to join this panel of qualified assessors and be part of achieving another step to making Britain’s buildings safer.

What is the Cladding Safety Scheme (CSS)?

Where the developer of a building cannot be traced or identified, the Cladding Safety Scheme will provide the funding to remediate of mitigate unsafe external wall systems on buildings between 11 to 18 metres in height.

The scheme will be funded by the Building Safety Levy, which will be charged on all new residential developments, and is expected to raise an estimated £3 billion. Learn more about CSS.

When did the scheme open in full?

Any applications eligible for the pilot have been proactively targeted by Homes England.

The scheme opened to all other eligible medium-rise buildings in on the 24th of July 2023. Please get in touch for further details on eligibility and the application process.

We will endeavour to update the information on this page as new developments are made. Keep up to date with the latest news.

“…working with FRC was the backbone in securing funding for our project. They were always there to offer guidance and support with their expertise and knowledge.  No question is too little for them and they are always at the end of the phone or email.  Managing agents all need a FRC when it comes to cladding projects.”
